i have been taking salsa lessons for a few week now and i just don’t get the steps anyone have any andvice?
I am not a salsa dancer. My style is Hip-Hop and Reggaeton. I want to try something new like salsa so i’ve been taking a few classes for a couple of weeks now, but is their some kind of rule that i must remember or follow when dancing salsa? With Reggaeton and Hip-Hop its mostly hips legs and a bit of the torso and you basically create your own original moves. Now with salsa there’s a big difference because there’s basic dance steps you have to know in order to dance with a partner accordingly. I just don’t seem to understand it, can anyone give me any pointers to maybe steer me in the right path?
You need to learn it with an instructor.
Try to stay away from night club instructors. Many have little or no training and are simply advanced students. You can do better with a dance video. Becoming a good dancer requires a better understanding of the music as well. You don’t get it because you don’t get the music. It is complicated and takes time to grasp. The more you listen to it the better you will get it. Find either of the following cds and listen to them over and over until you can sing the lyrics and know every part of the music in every song. Do this and you will have no problem learning to dance.
