What is a great recipe for authentic ( San Diego) Taqueria style refried beans?
I’d like to stop spending all money buying bean and cheese burritos at local taquerias and make them at home, but my attempts have ended up tasting like crappy rosarita beans. What I need here is a recipe from a taqueria, like a San Diego 24 taco shop like Alibertos or La Posta. Also if you know how to make their red salsa you will definetely get best answer.
I don’t know about San Diego style, but this is easy and good.
Dice 1 onion. Get 2 cans pinto beans. Just regular pinto beans in a can. Get small jar of minced garlic.
Pour the beans, juice and all, into a pot with onion and tsp of garlic. Let this cook for a while until everything is really soft.
In the meantime fry 2 or 3 pieces of bacon in a large skillet. You mainly need the bacon grease, but I like to take the crispy bacon and crumble it into the beans later.
When the beans are cooked, mash em’.
After mashing, pour all this into the hot grease. It will bubble up. Keep stirring and turning it until it’s all mixed together.
Got this recipe from a real chef. It’s good.

At Miguels the other day and when they give you the salsa and nacho chips to eat before you get served they also gave another dip with it that was creamy and kind of buttery, does anyone know what this is and mostly how do you make it?!??!
